Paul, your guitars continue to amaze me. I think you have come up with your signature end graft. Something about the way you build makes the guitar look fluid, everything flowing in nice easy arcs. I think your rosette treatment has a lot to do with not distracting from the rest of the guitar. I'd buy it. ![]() |

Superb as always. Great stuff. You said "Poly finish". You didn't say what kind. Water base? Normal? Oil base? 2-part? Single part? What is it? Lookos good for sure. |

[QUOTE=Don A] I'd buy it. ![]() Sorry, this one is sold. But I'd be happy to build you one. ![]() Thanks all for the nice comments. I really appreciate the "fluid" comments as that is absolutely what I'm striving to acheive. All of the curves on this guitar match the others in some way. ie, the end graft is a mirror of my headstock shape, and a mirror of that. Cutaway is the same shape as the curve of the headstock. Curves of the bridge are the same as the headstock... It sort of makes me crazy when builders don't think of how all of the elements work together. I guess that's the designer in me. My teachers in art school drove that home on a daily basis. |

Beautiful work, Paul. How did you bind the sound port? |
Author: | Pwoolson [ Fri Oct 14, 2005 2:46 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
Learned that one the hard way. I bind them before I bend it. Nothing quite like trying to do a compound bend of a .090 x .25 piece of EIR. |

sweet job paully. Still love the endgraft, both beautiful, and takes some skill to pull off! |

I've done very similar things with the endgraft to what you did on this guitar. Usually after a customer saw one that i'd done before and requested it. It's one of those areas of the guitar you can be pretty creative at whuile still maintaining functionality of the graft. Very nicely done, Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars |

[QUOTE=Pwoolson] ![]() Hay Paul, how about a close up of the sound port. I need to check out you binding to see if it is wraped and joined or formed whole...I may need to steal an idea or two Two sweet looking boxes by the way ![]() ![]() |

Michael, ![]() Sorry, this is the best I have. the guitar is gone and that's what I could get on 30 minutes notice (the photo that is). The port is bound like I do my soundholes. wrapped and jointed. I do everything on the hole prior to bending the side. Then it all bends as one unit. On particularily stubborn woods I have to insert a plug to keep the binding from pulling away from the long ends of the hole. |
